Metric Conversion
Follow these steps when converting metric from one unit to another.
1. Find the decimal in the number you are converting. If there is no decimal, it should be placed to the right of the last digit in the number.
2. Look on the metric conversion chart. Find the unit for the number you are converting.
3. Locate the unit of the number you are converting to.
4. Count the number of spaces you need to move from the first unit to the unit you desire.
5. Move the decimal from where it is initially in the direction of the converted unit and with as many spaces.
For example:
167 000 mm = _ m
1. Place the decimal after the last zero. 167000.
2. To go from mm to m you need to go to the left.
3. To move from mm to m you need to go 3 spaces.
4. Move the decimal 3 places to the left.
The answer: 167.0 m
Now go to the link for Metric Practice .You will need to scroll down until you see "Exercises". Try your best.
